چکیده

Coatings prepared from nanosized powders were obtained by spraying ethanol-based colloidal solutions into a plasma plume. The powders investigated included 40 nm γ -Al2O3, 75 nm 8 wt% Y2O3-ZrO2, and 750 nm 25 wt% CeO2-ZrO2. Spray distances from approximately 50 to 63 mm were required to achieve significant coating deposition. As observed in the TEM, the typical lamella morphology of air plasma sprayed oxide coatings was not observed in coatings fabricated from 40 nm γ -Al2O3, which was comprised of spherical powders that had partially sintered. However, lamellae were observed in the coatings prepared with both nanosized zirconia powders. The characteristic size of the lamella and the grains that comprised the zirconia coatings were nominally a few nanometers. C © 2004 Kluwer Academic Publishers

Characterization and Phase Transformation of Spherical YSZ Powders Fabricated Via air Plasma Spray Method

Air plasma spray (APS) process is used to produce high density and flowability spherical powders. Phase transformation that occurred in this process isn’t well known. In this paper, the YSZ powders have been sprayed in water to investigate the morphology changes and phase transformations via air plasma spray (APS) method. Phase analysis of powders was examined by XRD and the crystallite size an...

Microstructure and Tribological Performance of TiB2-NiCr Composite Coating Deposited by APS

Nickel chromium (NiCr) powders with different titanium diboride (TiB2) additions (20, 40 and 60 wt %) were prepared with a mechanical alloying method and then sprayed using an air plasma spraying technology. The microstructure and phase composite of the powders and the cross-sections of deposited coatings were analyzed with a scanning electronic microscope and X-ray diffraction. The tribologica...

Studies on Atmospheric Ageing of Nanosized Silicon Nitride Powders

Ageing of nanosized silicon nitride powder produced by the vapor phase reaction of silicon tetrachloride and ammonia has been studied in argon gas, in dry air and in air of 80% humidity, respectively, for 3 to 540 days. No remarkable changes were observed either in the bulk or the surface properties on storage in argon gas for 90 days. However, samples stored in dry air and humid air, respectiv...
